Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
